My coolant temp light always comes on when I turn on the ignition as a "lamp check". It goes out as soon as the motor starts.

My guess for multiple seal leaks would be worn bearings, just enough that the seal isn't mating properly on the shaft surface.

I can't say as I have done that on any of my K's or my R.
I put the arm on, let the weight of the bike settle on it, and torque it.
Over 100K miles on 3 different paralever BMW's and haven't had one ...
