I use the pink Mobil 1 from Halfords - mix it with distilled water 50/50.

Same here.

Another source of free distilled water is if you defrost the fridge.

This may sound silly, but, have a look at the rubbers at the rear of the tank, and make sure the tank is seated properly. Also if the clips, which are awkward to put on, are there.
