I've been some time doing some research on this, through a couple of independent BMW specialists.
OK here's what I have.
The K1100 / K100 frames are identical with the exception of additional brac ... |

The frames are not identical. Does the fact that they have a different part number maybe give you a clue?:
Interesting, what are the part numbers
By the way, have you ever seen a K100RS4V (BTW, ... |

The only difference between the K100 16V, and the K1100RS, is the extra 100cc.
In every other respect, both are the same bike, WITH IDENTICAL FRAMES, and as we see, the K100RS 16V does indeed have th ... |

It's not the same frame. As noted earlier, on the RS part of the frame is the lift handle. On the LT it's a swing out lift handle like 2V Ks.
You can see the lift handle as part of the RS frame in ... |

Don't assume there is a problem.
When I had my RS, I noticed that the fan didn't cut in till the needle was a hairs breadth off the red.
This is quite normal apparently. |

OK I'm confused. I don't lean anything considering how heavy the thing is.?
I tend to do it when it's on the centre stand.
If you don't have the strength, then yes, don't attempt it.
I don't ... |

| These bikes hide oil - somewhere, somehow. You can stop the bike, centerstand it, check the oil - and there might not be any showing. Next time you ride it, stop and centerstand it, it might be back u ... |

It lasts for about 30 seconds, only on cold starts.
Not once engine has been run for a while.
I can't seem to isolate the source, but suspect it coming from the exhaust.
Is this normal ? |

I recently sold my K1100RS to buy an LT instead.
I just got this email from the chap who bought it from me.
Could have been very nasty.
Thankfully he's OK.

There was brown goo sitting in ... |

I found some oil settled in the bottom of my expansion tank.
Removed it, poured the contents into a jar for a closer look, and yep, definitely oil.
Blown head gasket ?

I was going to say also that the LT has the swing out lift handle that the RS does not have...minor, but still a difference.
Actually, some European model RS's do indeed have the handle
In fact, ... |
