| GM used timing gears with a plastic/nylon coating on them to keep them quiet. I believe the plastic bits found in your oil pan arebits of timing gear. Time new timing chain and gears! |

those seals always look a little wet that "seepage" is what keeps them lubricated.
big drops of fluid are an indication that they are leaking.
the severity of the leak is what you need to ... |

| I don't know of a good way other then a press and hoping they don't break. I think I would check with the dealer and see if you can get them. But I pretty sure they will break coming of unless somebob ... |

Somewhere along the cables you are getting a direct earth back to the instrument via the 'G' cable.
If you look at the back of the fuel gauge you should see (excluding the light) 3 terminals, ... |

| I believe the washer and the seal are just a dust protector. The seal is there to protect from dust entering and scoring the bore. If it wasn't on your original one, this may be why it got scored. |
