Just an update - I made a couple of nice little recessed washers out of aluminum for the bottom - they work great. I would have liked to try the stock setup, but I'm not giong to mess with what works ...

Thanks bill. I already have the #17 bit. I'll go the stiffening with the washer route for sure; I just thought it was worth seeing if any of these clamps were lying around and I guess not.

I'm in the process of doing this now, and I'll post more details when I'm done. But to sum up, you *have* to change:

-handlebars (duh)
-choke cable
-throttle cable
-clutch cable
-brake M/C line ...

You could use the BMW spacers but they would be way too short. I do have a spare pair of BMW ones, so I suppose I could cut mini spacers out of them and then you could use those, and your stock spacer ...

Fwiw, all progressive springs, front or rear, are typically installed tight coils up. This is to reduce unsprung weight; the tight side is noticeably heavier as it has more coils.
