40 degrees and sunny in the mountain state so I should be ridding, but the 96 RS won't start. It turns over and then I hear a loud klank or smacking sound. It had 12.25 volts on the battery. I've got it on the charger now, but isn't that high enough to get it started. I started it on Dec 15 and it started right up. Any ideas why it won't start and what the noise is.
Thanks and Happy Holidays, Mike _________________ IBA#42211

Bypassed, battery tender light was green (full charge) and it just started. Does anyone know how many volts it takes to start the bike? What's a great battery to get? I'm thinking glass mat type. _________________ IBA#42211

Most riders I have heard from make good with Odyssey Batteries. I would stick with a sealed battery. Reduces maintenance worries and the ABS needs the extra voltage to keep from resetting. I personally have two BMW batteries and have yet had a problem with them. _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!
