Yhog-san,

Check out www.sjbmw.com
Here is the link to rentals http://www.sjbmw.com/rentals.asp?action=Section3
They are located in San Jose an hour south of San Francisco

They rent mostly R bikes but do have K1200LT's also available.

I'm located in San Jose and know the dealer since I bought my bike there. Let me know if you need any help.

Depending on your dates I might join you for a ride to LA. I've done that trip several times along the ocean (Highway # 1). There's a couple other K bike pilots in San Jose. We may get a group going if you're interested.

Sanjiv

If you're planning on a rental around the time of the Laguna Seca Moto GP, make your reservation early. A lot of other riders from outta state will be doing the same.

I've lookedi into renting from them before while on vacation visting my dad in California. The one thing that struck me as weird about them is that all they require is that you have a motocrcycle license. Other firms reuiqre that you have some riding epxerience(like 5 years) as well - which seems more respnsnible to me.

I'm not sure what the licensing requirements are in the US for foreign riders but you guys might want to check with whomever you plan to rent from if you don't have a US motorcycle license. It would be a bummer to get here and then not be able to rent from them.

Thanks Flying Duck !
I have california drivers license and also I asked US government office in TOKYO about this issues and they said we can ride if we have Japanese motorcycle license. But we must apply international license card before we leave japan Very Happy

By the way we will have only K's riders meeting in GIFU April12-13. This year is 6 annual meeting and 130 K riders come togather in this 2 days meeting Laughing I have ever know BMW motorcycle meeting which gathered over 200 riders anywhere in the world but never know 130 K's riders only meeting Shocked
I will talk about 2 wheel tour to USA in this meeting. I will shoot many photos of this meeting then introduce in this BBS later.

Akio,

You may have a California license but your other friends may not and it might be a requirement for the rental place that you have US licenses versus International licenses. Check to make sure the rental place is okay with it.

I have no experience, just thought that it might be a good idea to check.

Also let us all know here when you plan on doing your ride. I too am just south of San Jose and would be happy to meet with you if possible.

Mike

Thanks for the advise, Duck!
I have the international license and I'll send an email to EagleRider to check the necessity of a USA license.
Guilherme.
