On his way back north, the Duck stopped off in Daly City, which is about an hour north of where I live in South San Jose. Having some time to spare, we met halfway at a popular local biker hangout, Alice's Restaurant on Skyline Blvd (aka Highway 35) in Woodside (although it's really much closer to Sky Londa).

Being a Monday, there wasn't 250 bikes in the lot. It wasn't hard to spot the other LT in the parking lot. After some chat and chow, we headed out for a 90 minute loop of some nearby roads.

Flying Duck and MNB pose for a "Group Shot"

Flying Duck carves up some corners

My helmet patient waits for me to beat my front brake switch into submission (it shall be spritzed today)

Flying Duck rounds a hairpin on Stage Road

We roll into the bustling metropolis known as Pescadero

His LT was thirsty. Note the gas prices (about 20-25 cents above normal for our area currently)

A rear quarter view of the Duck's LT. I envy his highway pegs...

We headed up Pescadero Creek Road

And then down a goat trail called Alpine Road (this is not the goat trail part pictured)

Then it was time for some more twisties to wrap up Alpine Road and then a few miles back north on Skyline Blvd to Alice's where we said our goodbyes.

It was great meeting you, Drake. I'm glad we managed to meet up. Have a nice and safe ride back home. I wish I could join you on that trip!

I'm always up for a ride if I have the time anytime a K11OG member is in the area. Just let me know when you'll be near San Jose and I'll try to make it happen. There are tons of great roads in the area and great places to go and see.

so - the question of the day is: Did you get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant?

Cool pix - thanks.

"'cepting Alice, of course." Laughing

He had breakfast (at 1:30pm). I was tempted to as well, because I LOVE breakfast, but I had a burger.

It's not THE Alice's restaurant mentioned in the Arlo Guthrie song - that restaurant is somewhere on the east coast. It is an ideal meeting location for bikers, though. Situated on the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains, it's halfway from San Francisco to San Jose. Great roads lie in all directions from the four way intersection, although most of them lie west or south. On weekends, the lots on both sides of Highway 35 will be packed with all sorts of bikes from Harleys to Ducatis to Vincent Black Shadows and everything you can imagine. Always quite a few beemers, but a Flying Brick is a bit rare (not counting mine, of course...)

Oh, btw, my current avatar (with the mustard weed behind me) wasn't taken yesterday, but a couple weeks ago, also on Stage Road.

Great! Nothing like a sunny day, a light breakfest (burger...), and a buddy to do some twisties....

Good stuff, great pics....funny to see Drakes LT draped in lights next to yours which is devoid of lights. (you need a set imo)

Drake how do you like the pegs that high?

Yeah, I know. The hi intensity 55/65w bulb I put in does help, but I sure notice a difference when on the Harley with it's driving lights. I'm kinda lacking in funds right now and I'm not sure where I'd mount them. The most likely place would probably be under the headlight, probably on a metal bar using existing fairing mount holes. The bar would be to get more width. I'm not sure how to wire them in, possibly tapping into the low beam circuit. I'm sure with a bit of searching here I could find more info that I'd ever want to know about such a mod.

MNB, be carefull or avoid to connect the driving lights switch direct to the low/high light switch in the handlebar. This will cause a overload in the electric system, and will burn the switch.
Maybe a remote driving light switch is more safe and preserve your circuits.
This happened in a BMW of a friend. The handlebar lights switch of the BMW are very fragile to overloads.
Guilherme.

^^True, but it's very simple to rig a set of lights yourself.

Hell I did it. (ok Drake helped me with a diagram, but hey. Razz )

yeah - if you don't want to spring for a relay and wiring kit from Eastern Beaver, Drake can fix you up with a DIY.

I love me some lights - the little ones under the headlight are great for being seen and the Hella FF50s are aweseom.

The big problem with highway pegs on the LT is the fairing knee panels. It's kind of a ride the barrell feeling but man was I glad to have them in 90 degree plus weather going through Bakersfield.

I'm glad I met up with Curt. We had a good time and the goat trails he took me on were fun. Local knowledge is a very good thing.

I'll post a few pics later - once I recover from riding 12 hours on Tuesday and then 17 straight hours yesterday. Shocked

You just inspired me to add SuperTramp's "Take the Long Way Home" to my MP3 play list... How could I have forgotten that one so far?
