I did this on my R1200ST.
At Hungry Mother I saw Neoprene wraps.
I suggest these work better.
1. Better grip.
2. Very good heated grip heat transfer.
3. No water logged wraps.
First and foremost you must use Viton O-Rings. Don't be fooled by anything else. They go by other trade names such as Fluorel, Technoflon, and Dai-el. They are highly UV and Chemical resistant.
This is where I bought mine. But they are widely available on the net.
This is how I put them on.
I measured the grip circumference to determine what I.D. O-rings I needed to buy. The tapered K11 grips will prove a little more challenging but I bet you will find it rewarding. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

ProGrip Model 699 - open ended version. $6.99. Gel grip that does fine with HGs. I have had these on every K I've owned. When tooling around National Parks, I often ride without gloves - these are even very comfy without gloves.
(I think the same guys who designed the stock seats designed the factory grips. )
You can get colors too - to match your red seat. (Sorry, Jim, couldn't resist.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Are you sure you want to go there, Johnny? I've got about 8 or 9 good comebacks for that setup line. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

That's what you get for blipping your own throttle.
Steve doesn't need them.
