For those of you who use the Bosch oil filter does it have a filter that covers the bypass valve. The BMW and the Fram have one that keeps any larger particles from getting through if the filter clogs and the bypass opens.
Also the Purolator Pure One PL10241 is a replacement for our K bikes. Has anyone tried it before. I am always leary of painted filters and the paint coming off in the pan.
This is a list I got off the BMWLT Touring forum for replacement filters that fit our Ks.
BMW (kit) 11002300053 $21 (no paint, well letters)
Napa Gold FIL 1348 $5.79(? by Wix, gold paint)
K&N BK 7355551 $11.99
Purolator PurOne PL10241 $5.39 (Peel off label)(nice blue paint)
Mobil-1 M1-102 $9.99 (gloss black,peel-off label)
Wix 51348 $4.95
SuperTech 3614 $2.07 (? by Fram, no Hand-Grip coating)
Fram 6063 $3.84 (has Hand-Grip coating on end)NO COATING or paint on Motorcycle Filter
Amsoil EaoM -122 $17.00
Bosch 3330 $5.99 (made by Purolator , flaking black paint)
Bosch 72161 $6.59 (? Purolator--nice gloss black paint.)
MicroGuard GL10241 $3.29 (by Purolator )
Purolator ML16825 $4.89
Purolator PL25230 $5.99
Thanks for your indulgence,

I have/am running the Purolator PL10241 - no problems.
Also add A/C Delco PF53 to list. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

I get mine from Motobins in the UK who sell both OEM and filters made by Donit, who, according to them, actually make the BMW OEM filters. Don't know the part number I'm afraid. They certainly look the same as the BMW OEM filter I pulled out years ago when I switched. You get a free tool with each filter to get them off as well. _________________ 1980 CB900FA

+! IMHO the new type tool fits the filter better, I used to get the feeling with the old (Genuine BMW) ones, that they would slip, if the filter had been fitted by a "Garage Gorilla". _________________ Regards Tim,
