I put a pair of EBC pads in the front brakes of my KLT, but the whell was "locked".
Something didn't allowed the calipers to "move back".
I opted to change all the brake hoses, and ordered a complete set (4 front and 1 rear) "Aeroquip" type hoses.
Soo I'll have the pictures.
The original rubber hoses, now with 14 years of hard work, was delaminating and didn't inspired much confidence....

I'm not so crazy about EBCs either.

Anyone have a long-lasting alternative for the rears?

Rear pads
Rear bleed and new fluid
Cleaned out rear caliper

Checked today and rears are shot....right (shaft) side is to the steel.

I had the rear caliper rebuilt 10k ago as well.

I know they bind...not much I can do about it...can't swing a new/used caliper at this point but I need better pads.


Couple questions:

1. Anyone have a reasonable new/used rear rotor for sale? Mine is really burred up.

2. What's the best thing to use to smooth out the rotor? Steel wool? Sandpaper?

Not certain if I paid too much or not. Went with their reccomendation, Galfer greens in fron, not installed yet, with some thing else in back.

I grabbed the e-mail address from the sales dept on my reciept.

I had taken the fronts off to get a better look. When compared to the new ones I bought, I have lots of life left in them. I installed the speed bleeders & bled the brake system. This caused the MC piston seal to leak. Replaced that this morning. Sure nuff, old seals, front seal, there are 2, was all scuffed to heck. I had to dress the MC bore.
On the RS there is a rubber boot that is supposed to keep out the weather from the front area around the cylinder & the piston bore. This is a pretty poor design for a motor cycle and that seal does not hold on well.
After derssing the bore, I cleaned the area up real well. Upon installation I used Permatex around the seal to hold it in place and prevent the elements from getting in again. It fit well around the actuating rod from the hand lever which goes thorugh the center. It's just where the seal contacts the master cylinder that is weak.
