|
|
I've got some FirstGear riding pants (which kept me dry for the whole rain-soaked ride last night) that are completely covered in mud from riding ATVs in the woods in PA.
They've gotten to the point where the hose can no longer help them, and I really need to clean them. I don't think they're machine-washable -- are they dry-cleanable?
Thanks,
fnord |

I machine wash all my gear.
Use the cold setting, take the armor out first and most importantly line dry DO NOT tumble dry! _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

The label should have washing instructions. _________________ Current Bikes

fnord...
i go to one of those automatic carwashes without the brushes... just the spary nozzles...
ride in and put it on the center stand... put the quarters in and get back on the motobrick... you get everything washed... your gear and your motobrick...
i seek out the simonize ones because the deluxe wash comes with scented wax... its invigorating...
then ride away and you will be blown dry in short time...

I tried that, there's not any care info. I dug through their site and found more of the same, so I have emailed them and am waiting for an answer. |

Official word from FirstGear:
John,
We recommend that you hand wash your pants in cool water with a mild detergent (Woolite). You will need to hang dry them as your drier can damage your pants.
Thank you,

Visit REI, Mountain Equipment COOP or any good-sized high-end outdoors store and look for NIKWASH detergent (NIKWAX Brand). It is specifically made for Gortex and other waterproof outdoor gear.
It did a beautiful job of cleaning my BMW Savanna gear in the washing machine and did no damage to all of the reflective stripes or Gortex.
You can find a long list of testimonials by typing Nikwash in Google too. _________________ Thunderbird 1: '93 K1100LT
