Not that there was any way in hell I considered trading in my beloved K1100LT!
But I did pick up a black and silver (color coordinated with my K1100) F800GS yesterday.
Virtually no extras yet (like luggage) cuz it took all I could muster to make the deal. Well at least and be smart in these financially rough times. But that just means I'll be able to give it presents from time to time. _________________ M N B

Those are zippy bikes. I took an red F800S demo out for a spin at the dealer one day. Like you, I'd opt for the GS to get a little dirty. Congrats!!! _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Sorry, haven't had much time, but here's a link to the thread on SBR. I'd link the pics direct, but due to the way the URLs are made, it doesn't work here.

I should have some pics later today after the ride... _________________ M N B

Very nice! Are they belt drive? I'd love to have one. Let us know how it handles the fire roads, will you?

Found the answer to my ?
| Quote: | | The belt drive and single-strut swing arm of the F 800, which are ideal for pure on-road use, have been replaced by a light chain drive, which, in combination with a very stable, attractive aluminum profile double-strut swing arm offers particular advantages in off-road riding in particular. The new GS is thus not only in its element on roads – it can also always find a way off-road too |
The yellow is way hot!
I can hear OTG salvitatin' from here. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

All I get at the advrider site for pictures is "bandwidth exceeded" from photobucket. Is that just me? _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

No need. Just getting the bike has made me poor. It's gonna take me some time to get it well outfitted.
Sheesh, the only difference between it and my harley is the add ons aren't chrome. _________________ M N B

I rode down to Corbin in Hollister yesterday (a 40 mile ride) and had a custom seat made for it. The benefit of riding in is you can get custom fitting for no extra charge.
I posted a full story of the experience on SouthBayRiders.com at:
http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69384
But here's a shot of the finished product:
It's unfarklized still, although I have mounted the GPS on the handle as well as wired up a connector for heated gear and a battery tender harness.
Most of the goodies are ordered, but have yet to arrive. Luggage, crashbar, skid plate, taller windscreen. Picked up 2/3 of the handguard parts when I took it in for the 600 mile service yesterday after I was done getting the new seat. It's coming together. With luck, next year will allow and afford me the opportunity to take some nice adventure riding trips.
But lest you fear the K1100LT is being neglected... The very weekend after I bought th F800GS, I took the LT on a 2 day ride down to Paso Robles and back, enjoying many of the local roads. Although I really wanted to play with the new toy, I had an awesome time on the ride. The LT isn't going anywhere. It still fills a valuable slot in my motorcycling interests. _________________ M N B
