May the blessings of this season of giving fill your heart with joy and grace.

An Old Irish Blessing

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

One of several black squirrels we have in our backyard. They pester the brown ones.

Nuthatch and Mama Cardinal at our feeder.

And Papa.

2009 will be a better year. Blessings to all.

I have not heard that our black squirrels are protected in MN, SD (where our backyard is located) or anywhere else. These are a mutant clan of Red Squirrels. I have seen similar mutations of Grey Squirrels in northern MN. Do you have them and/or are they protected in Wisconnie?

Or am I missing some Affirmative Action humor here...?

As a wild life harvester I've found them to be quite tasty.
Certain counties in WI have them listed as protected, and this changes as the DNR see's fit to regulate.
I don't take them unless they are nearly as big as the gray's.
Have also harvested the "fox " squirell but never the little highly annoying red ones.
Although all of them are entertaining to watch.

No hidden agenda, nice pic's!

Indeed. My wife especially enjoys watching them and the birds. Which is why I wouldn't hunt them. (Besides it being frowned upon in the city limits.)

I used to love to hunt them and rabbits this time of year, but I never acquired a taste for squirrel or rabbit stew. Nowadays, I tend to hunt only that which I eat, which means a freezer full of pheasants right now!

Fine eating indeed those pheasents!

Been many many year since I've been to SoDak to hunt them.

Such good memories of trips out there to hunt, camp, & explore.

Darn tough winters too, but we'llall prevail to ride again next spring.

God willing of course.
