Seems like every time I look down at the speedometer I'm doing between
80 to 90 mph. I allways back down to 65 but five min late I'm doing 80 again. I don't live for speed and I don't want a ticket thats why I use cruise controll in my car's. I know It's just me and It's stupid but If anyone knows a trick to break me of this habit befor I get a ticket I will

Uh, pull 2 plug wires??
-or- Have someone (like my wife) as a passenger. She has an internal speedometer and "relays" this info to me through the intercom (for somewhat over the limit) or into my sides when we are significantly over.
But ultimately it will be either you that controls your right wrist or someone with flashing lights.
Good luck.

Endoman,
I have the same challenge you do particularly around town. There are days that I wish I had bought a K75....
I try to run in lower gears around town. The motor can handle the higher RPM's and the sound from the engine reminds me to take it easy....
Enjoy your bike. All that power is handy every time I have to pass a big rig.

I have my speedo calibrated to run just a wee bit high. When it reads 80 (in a 70mph zone) I'm doing about 78 or 79 - under the get a tciket threshold. Then I set my cruise control and leave it alone.
The Seattle Police dont' seem to give out many tickets for speeding and I keep an eye out when riding do I don't worry about it in town. I don't ride like a hooligan though in the city. I have to be more careful on the east side of Lake Washington though. There's some Nazi cops over there. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I use an Etrix GPS for an accurate speedometer and have pretty much disciplined myself to 10 over which works in ILL.
Also the threat that you must go through re-testing for CDL licence in ILL with a conviction for speeding is incentive to watch it. _________________ '93 K1100LT

After racking up enough tickets, including getting stopped twice in one day (for 7 and 12 over) in the middle of nowhere Eastern Washington on a full dress Harley loaded for a 30 day trip, I don't seem to have a problem keeping it under 75 anymore...
Annoys the fuck out of all the local squids on their sport bikes. Of course, when I get to the twisties, I'm not really slowin down much... _________________ M N B

The fed's shouldn't have anything to do with it.
My CDL was issued by Iowa.
I believe that any drivers license is issued by states with federal suggested guidelines.
Unless you may be active Military, then I don't have a clue how they do it, weather they honor state issued documents or issue their own. _________________ Ride safe.

I have a very hard time driving the Motobrick under 80. Like Drake, my speedo is 10% off...so I am actually doing <75. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Yeah - I do. I installed cruise control to help with that little problem. I have to ride all the way out west to hit the triple digits... _________________ Jim

In the UK we get points (called an endorsement) added to our licence for committing motoring offences, usually in increments of three, and we get an automatic 12 months ban when 12 points are reached, under what's called 'the totting-up procedure'.
The number of points depends on the severity of the offence, so for 35/36 in a 30 limit it'd probably be 3 points, while 50 in a 30 limit may well get 6 points. Driving with no insurance is usually 6 points too, and DUI is a mandatory 12 month ban irresepctive of the number of points already accrued. In most counties, 100mph is also an automatic ban. During a ban the licence has to be surrendered to the authorities and it has to be re-applied for when the ban is over.
We can pick up a ban in one day by going through four speed cameras at six or seven mph above the limit, and if we get stopped for committing an 'endorsable' offence and other endorsable offences show up at the roadside - defective tyres or headlight, for example - each separate offence carries it's own 'points' value, so six or nine points can easily be collected at one stop!
At least we don't have to carry our licence and registration with us at all times though (we get seven days to produce them at a police station of our choice), and we don't have to worry about different rules and laws applying in different parts of the country. _________________

I have a very hard time keeping the wrist out of the throttle. Like Jim I also installed the cruise control to help manage highway speeds.
It don't do me much good on the commute to work though. I just have to remember to stop shifting gears and I won't get going as fast. _________________ Ride safe.

I find my commute getting quicker and quicker, on the RS, until I finally realize that the speed is getting ridiculous - Then, I jump on the 650 for a few days; reality returns! _________________ 1973 CB350F / 1977 R100/7 / 1991 DR650S / 1995 K1100RS

Here in Brazil we don't mind too much with speed limits with motorcycles.
When cruising, I usually go in the 90-100mph range.
Over 110mph the temperature of the bike turn a little high, and the KLT starts to drink too much fuel.
When I went to Chile, 2 years ago, I rode in 3 days 2300miles in the 100mph all the time, cause in Argentina you don' t see a cop too often, and i think the KLT was designed to cruise in the 100mph mark, all day long, for 10 years, interrupt!
