I have always used Castrol GTX 20/50.....Don't really know why, have always had good luck with Castrol. Tried the Spectro and I guess I was expecting it to run better....maybe it did as my wallet was lighter (is that sprung or unsprung weight)
Why do you ask?

Castrol 20/50 is one of the better dino oils out there. If I were running dino that's what I'd run. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

i hear that castrol will really make you scoot if you drink it or cook with it...
some say a glass of castrol a day keeps the log jam away...
another thing... why would you use one kinda oil for riding and another kinda oil for the dino... seems like if you wanted to know the hp at the rear wheel you would use the same oil you ride with...

I just mounted up my 1st set of radials. PR'2/Storm so we'll see how they handle for me. I've got about 100 miles on them so far, and they are definately better than the Macadams that I can tell. _________________ Ride safe.

well goodie another tyre thread...
first off the center flat spotting (CFS) is normal for highway travel.. i use a zr rated tyre and a co-worker use a vb rated tyre we both get CFP. you can't alter it unless you due alot of twisties. we both do the same mile to and from work ;he rides k1200lt i use a k11rs
now for the 2 cents worth.
1) what is your rideing style and what is the surface type. hard and fast on concrete or soft and easy on asphalt / tarmac.
2) how many miles a day do you travel and how do you store the bike.
now the tyre stuff.
most of the front tyres that will fit the 17 inch rim is vast and complex. ( front size is also the defacto for the moto gp bikes ) so if you go with previous gen tyre ( ie road pilot not RP2) you will get what you are looking for.
as for the rear we are stuck with what ever fits the Honda goldwing and similar 18 inch tyres.
my frist tyre was a road pilot and i got almost 12000 miles. another co-worker got 14000 but he took the CFS down to the cord.
i would recomend road pilot for stickyness if you are want durability get a metz z4.
the z4 feels hard and you can not really push the front end but with the road pilot push all day long and it keeps on going even in the rain
as for the rear i was not happy with the oem bridgestone battleaxe uneven wear and just felt soft .
i replaced it with the avon storm av56... it was a great tyre for about 5000 miles suffered 2 punctures and had to run flat to the gas station.
i currently have a diablo by perellie not bad so far ..
just my thoughts. _________________ fix the problem not the blame ; fix what is messed up ; NO one is to blame. |

I frequently ride in Angeles Forest with altitude of 6,000'. That's about 2.5 PSI raise from my home's 700' altitude, so I take that into account when looking at my tire's MAX pressure.

| Altering tire pressure for altitude...that is one I never thought of. Going to order the Michelins this week....They look like the best combo of wear and grip. |
