Howdy
I need a refresher course on rebuilding the starter motor. I had taken it apart while waiting for the exhaust pipe from Rydor.
However in my haste of taking it apart... Does the label on the starter sit at the back of the motor unit? Can one see the label when the starter is mounted to the engine?

the black RS was already to go last night. Everything came together. No problems with bleeding the brakes even... Hit the starter and the abs lights would alternately flash. No starter motor turning... figure its running backwards and shorting out the battery.

Head scratchin' eh?

I removed the starter. Used jumper cables and It does run when touching the black ground cable to the body of the motor.

Hope all is riding!

With the starter mounted and wired, do you have headlight, tail lights, horn, etc...
Here's a starter circuit schematic that is from another forum.

They were diagnosing another problem.

Scott,
Thanks for the schemetic! Cool!
There is this label on the starter. its at one end of the round barrel part.
When taking the starter apart I can switch the barrel part...
Meaning it will go together backwards.

I have looked at web sites hoping to "SEE" where that label is on the starter. Max BMW does have a picture.. but no label appears!

confused?
ayeee!

thanks!

I'll have a look at my K1100 RS (as the whole back end is gone anyway)

To complete this message.

I removed the starter and checked it by running it off the battery. Works. Took another 2 evenings to get the bike back together.
Fired right off!

Thanks for all the help!
