the fuel+ has always been pretty accurate - never had a problem with it - until Sunday. I have to admit, I'm pulling a much larger trailer to San Diego than I'd like to. The good people at Uni-go sent my suspension repair parts to Florida (God's waiting room - don't know why any geezers down there would want a Uni-go )
The K normally runs out at 239 or 240 miles - pulling the Uni-go. I was watching the miles to empty on the fuel+, saw the fuel warning lamp come on, but the miles to empty weren't dropping - as a matter of fact, they started going up. When the engine started to sputter, I was up to 60 miles to empty. I put the bike on the side stand and managed to make it to within a 1/4 mile of the exit ramp and the four truck stops/service stations there.
Here's where I have to adjust my attitude a little. The only person who stopped was Dan - on his little light green HD with loud pipes. He opened a petcock and gave me about .75 litre of gas - more than enough. When I made it to the station to fill up, the K took 5.162 gallons. Although I will never like loud pipes, I might not so loudly condemn those who ride with them.
Pulling this big honking trailer is knocking my mileage down about 40 gallons to the tank - bummer. On the other hand, I have almost nothing on the bike or in the side cases.
I'll have to post some pix of the trailer - I've never seen another like it - I think it's a one-off from the 60's or early 70's - kind of looks like the trunk of an Impala or Buick or something.
Oh, back to the fuel+ - guess I'll have to figure out what it's up to. It's supposed to be monitoring the amount of gas the bike is using - I don't see how it could be so far off. _________________ Jim

I can't say that what has happened to me is the same for you as I think you have the older version, but....
On at least 2 occasions mine has done an automatic fill up reset(again) within 100 miles from the fill up. So then the fuel used and miles to go is not accurate anymore.
I can't explain why, I hadn't used fuel past the fill detection point.
I have recalibrated the unit for the fuel tank on the bike.
I suppose if it coninues I may set it for manual reset only and see what happens.
I have been pleased with it so far.
Would I buy a 2nd one for my other bike??????................
don't know just yet. _________________ Ride safe.

Check in with Dave at electronic resources, I'm sure he would want to hear about this. He was very helpful to me setting up Sugarhill's fuel+ even though I didn't buy anything from him.

My bad!
OK - I should read the manual more often - and if I'm not going to memorize all 40 functions, I should probably at least be familiar with the basic ones.
It struck me Monday as I was riding along that the 43E I thought was miles to Empty is actually Economy = mpg. What I should have been watching was miles remaining = r.
Now that I have all that figured out, I'm happy to report the fuel+ is working fine again. Apparently there was a bit of operator error. My mpg is down to about 42.
I took some pix of the trailer today and tonight, but probably won't be able to post them until I get to San Diego.
Thanks for the contact info. _________________ Jim

Back in 1996 when I was on my first day of my first great ride I let some idiot fill the tank of my K75S and as I was going up the onramp to the Spaulding Highway just 100 yards or so away from the station I looked down to see the bike in flames. I stopped and put it out with the very handy bottle of Poland Water safely nestled between the hard case handle and the bike. I began to tear it down right there on the side of the highway, and had several BMW riders pass oblivious to my waving "need help" hands. Finally a guy on an old Harley stopped as I was deep in the battery wires and helped me trace the one fried wire - tape it up with his electrical tape and the bike sprang to life. I gave him some of my blue Loc-tite for his license plate and he took off with a wave.
Guess when it all comes down to it, we're all riders
As a followup, the idiot prior owner had removed the "air accumulator" aka the cup that collects gas overflow and shoots it down a tube to behind the footpeg - allowing excess gas to pour all over the engine. I stopped later that day and bought a new one _________________

Scott,
I had a similar problem on my R1100RT when I was working with David on the prototype. I had to set my FLOAT value to 11 points below the FULL value to get mine to only reset to 100% after a REAL fillup.
You could also have a problem if you shut the bike down on the sidestand. The float drops more on the sidestand than when on the centerstand. The 100% reset only happens within the first 10 seconds after a start. It should never happen while riding. If it does reset while riding, you have a different problem.
