That sucks mate. As you know, make sure that part is overbuilt when it goes back together. It is NOT a part you want to replace more than once.

Were I buying a new one I would reinforce it prior to putting it in as well. There is a ton of stress on that peice.

That bracket looks totally stuffed, give Discount Motorcycle Wreckers a call in Victoria on (03) 9350 4417 they are wrecking a complete 1100LT at the moment.

Give Munich motorcycles in Perth a ring. They may have one.

Don't know if you are aware, Munich also is the best place to get parts for our motobricks.

They are cheaper by a long shot than any of the BM dealers. I can get parts faster and cheaper from Perth than my local dealer just 2 kms from home.

Alright so everything has turned out ok. I rang my local BMW dealer and they wanted 400 bucks for a new bracket... no thanks. So i found a local welder (Minifab in Unanderra: very friendly and helpful one man business) and he welded and reinforced the bracket with some steel plates. Cost me a tasty 65 bucks, the fellow did a beautifal job and it was ready in an hour. After making sure the part fitted nicely, I spray painted the bracket and installed it. Everything fits well enough.

I'm surprised on how much of a difference this makes. The faring is rock-solid! Very confidence inspiring.

Comparing your story and my wrenching yesterday, we could have swapped images w/o noone noticed it. Same colour of bike and same crack though I took the crashbars and tank off as I replaced my steering beerings at the same time.
Seen on you pickture that your welder added a bit of matherial over the cracks on the bracket, can be a god idea.
Mine are also rocksolid now, solving another problem have mounted a head cam ( oregon scientific 2k ) on the faring to record fellow rider doing cornering to improve their riding skills,,and mine trying to follow them.
Got much more steaddy movies now no more vertical wobbling.
PS. need to gravel roads sometimes by poor navigation or just for fun.
