I have a 1997 K1100LT with 56,000 miles. It runs perfect. Riding home last night about 15 miles from home the red triangle light between the speedo and tach lights up and stays lit. Brakes work fine. I get home and turn the bike off and then turn it back on. All the lights abs lights work correctly and go off after I get started and ride around our driveway but the red brake light stays on. The brake light comes on with the front brake and also for the rear break. Took the rear brake light out and there are no bare wires. So, why would the red stay on if everything is working?
I installed a Moto Meter volt meter where a speaker would be and it read 14 riding home, GPS stayed lit and turn signals all work fine. I hat electrical problems. I would rather tear a motor apart then mess with wiring.

Replace the brake light bulb. I had exactly the same problem about 3 years ago. _________________ '02 - GL1800

Yeah - what he said - replace the bulb. I've found it's worth it to get the BMW bulbs. Jus' sayin'... _________________ Jim

And, if you find it's NOT the bulb, which it probably is, check fuse #1 the tip top one in the box under your left side cover.
That's the only fuse that blew when my temp guage shorted and tried to take out my wiring harness on a Sunday morning 700+ miles from home. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

Thanks guys, you all made the right call. I took the bulbs to our local Autobahn Euro Car service place and he gave me the extac same bulbs. Three dollars and I am as good as new, problem solved.
Thanks,
