There's tow bolts and two screws that hold it on. Tighten them.

Tibbe - Dr Malacarne did a nice write up - with pix - on stiffening the topbox frame. I think it's in his "Riding Brazil" thread.

Tibbe, the rubbery material deteriorates inside the backrest (I think that's the part you are talking about?) I had to fill the holes with chemical metal to create a thread for the screws. I also changed the stock ones for slightly bigger. I have seen one where the owner has put bolts through and caps on the protruding outside ends to really grip from both sides..
As to strengthening the frame , yes Gui has done that as Jim says and there are pics too!

Tibbe.
When I was returning from Santiago, Chile, 2 years ago, I almost lost the top box speakers system....The wind was very strong. On the road, I fixed all with a roll of silver tape.
Then, I made reinforcements in all the mounting arms of the top case and speakers case.

Hi
Fixed the upper rubber part with glue and screws.
Great tips of the reinforce of topbox frame.
Will be a winther jobb, as this years riding season are soon off due to low temp and evtl. snow.
Note: Had a look at the front steelplates and as a prev. mechanical enginner couldn't help thinking about how much they add to stability.

BTW. took a ride to Lofoten in Norway some weeks ago.
Great ride. Se. http://picasaweb.google.com/luletibbe/LofotenTrip# ( Includes a ride to Rovaniemi in Finland and a boat ride outside Luleå / Sweden )

Great pictures of yor part of the world. You should post that over in Pictures so everyone has a chance to see them. This one looks like it was taken in South Africa!

I get sick of mine bouncing around too. One of my winter projects will be to drill some holes in the LT rack and tail cowl where those little rubber pads are, one on each side, and then put bolts thourhg there. This should stabilize it some more while being easy to do.

I also try to avoid loading it up with heavy stuff.
