|
|
Hi Folks - let's say I had a brand new (to me) 1994 K75RT (with electric windshield, same at the K11LTs) and wanted to mount a Garmin 2610 GPS. Anyone have any suggestions for where and how to get it mounted?
Thanks!

Ted, long time no post! "Let's say", or do you? Are you back in the K Klub?
Are you coming to Hungry Mother III?
Would love to see you again!
I have no actual relevant info to give you on mounting a GPS, sorry. _________________ Steve

I see, Ted, a hypothetical situation
Being that I only have an RS I cannot give you any suggestions.
Perhaps you are just giving a "friend" some help sorting out his newly purchased bike.
WELCOME to your "friend"
This site looks good....

Yes, yes - I bought a 1994 K75RT today from a good friend It came with a 1" thick stack of maintenance records and is really in magnificent shape. I will hopefully be arriving at HM III on TWO wheels this year!

Well, glad to hear your back riding.
Here's where, and how I mounted my 2820. I have the same mounting bracket on each LT so I can have it on either bike. I taped the power lead to the map light lead so that when I remove the panel I just unplug the quick connector and remove it.

Scott - that looks like a GREAT solution - who makes the mount?
Thanks! _________________

Ted, other Scott here. I did the Ram mount thing. Lots of options and highly movable after you selected your mounting location. I have it a little higher because I use it as a speedo too. Bad picture of the mount but you might get the idea. I dash mounted the base and used a 7" arm, I think.

Ted, it's a Garmin. It's their cycle mounting kit.
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1053
I got mine from Amazon for about $35 with free shipping.
You can probably find it elsewhere for less money. Just be aware that they offer 2 versions of the kit. One with the electrical harness and one without. Unless you can use yours with an internal battery(which mine doesn't have) you will want the wire harness.
Like the other Scott had mentioned and others have posted when I did my original write up, it's not flexible. But for me, it works just fine. Not to mention that if someone really wants to steal it, they will just have to work harder at it, it won't be that easy.
This mount base can be attatched to a ram system, I just chose to put it direct on the plastic. That way it's also firm and doesn't move when I'm pushing on it. _________________ Ride safe.
