|
|
Hi everyone!
When I picked up my bike , I was on my way back to NY when I hit a thunderstorm with heavy rain. Suddenly the bike's (1993 K1100LT)engine note changed to a "blat" and seemed to loose a little power. As I continued, the rain subsided and the problem went away. This happened twice since then always when it is raining heavily. Any Ideas?
Thanks! _________________ Eric Johnson

1st thing that comes to my mind is to check your plug wires. _________________ Ride safe.

Thanks Scott,
Good place to start. I think I'll replace them as they are the originals. The bike only has 13,000 miles on it and I don't think it has had a tune up as of yet...

Get some Magnecor spark plug leads from http://www.alamomotorsports.com/Magnecor/ They don't have the ones for a K1100 listed but they will order them for you. I bought some last year there for $68. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Eric,
You might want to do this after the sun has set. Try taking off the fairing bottom and left side mid fairing. Then with the engine running, LIGHTLY spray water on the plug leads and coils. If there are any electric "leaks" from plug wires, you will see electrical fireworks now. Back from my auto/4 wheel days.
Official hijack here- any interest in going to HM III in May?
Let us know- Ernie-NH or me, Sugarhillctd.

Did your water temp go to low range.I have seen my bike go all the way to
the blue range due to rain = a lot of water on the water pump cover. The
result is low water temp and then the ecu gives more fuel. After i stopped and
had the engine run at idle for 2-3 min everything went back to normal.

Palle,
Thanks. I didn't notice the water temp. It was July so I'm thinking it wasn't that condition, so I don't know. I'll check the wires firstly and go from there. Thanks again all for your help. _________________ Eric Johnson
