Hey guys,
Just wanted to share my Homer moment recently...I got boxed in by cars in front of a hotel and had to climb a kerb to get out of the area. It didn't look that high but just in case I placed a brick as a 'step'.
Well the front wheel went up fine, but when the back wheel hit the brick....you guessed it, it just spun that brick away. The bike came backwards and the lower part of the fairing landed on the kerb with a really sickening crunch. I knew immediately I'd broken something on the bike.
Sure enough. I didn't realise how bad it was till a little later actually, it looked like a compund fracture, with a bit of the broken fairing sticking out and all. Needless to say I wasn't very pleased with myself...
Luckily, none of the broken bits fell off, and I was able to successfully superglue the parts back; did a stress test and it's all good, very securely reset. When I removed the lower fairing, I also noticed that the impact had broken the lower metal brace that secures the bottom of the fairing to the engine. Got that welded at a shop nearby..it looked like it'd been welded in the past.
So anyway, long story short (too late) bike's fine! The fairing is securely in place, all the screws back in and it doesn't rattle or move about, I think I was lucky
Letting my brick rest a bit, been riding her a lot recently, since I have this to review for a week. Just picked it up this morning, it's the BMW K1300S, with optional Akrapovic can. It comes with that Quick-Shift function too, after 5000rpm just slam it into the next gear without clutch or throttle release. I love it! Honestly, and I can't believe I'm saying this....I like it more than the HP2 that I tested last.
Will post more pictures of it in action soon
Cheers!

OUCH on your K11 crunch. Good to see you were able to fix it without too much difficulty.
I have some deep grooves in the bottom of mine from various encounters, but none like yours.
BTW, can't wait to hear/see your impressions of the K1300! _________________ John & Cathy
