Good morning JO....

GREAT pics and thanks for the tour... some very strange scenery for us easterners, BUT what the heck is a "pilot car" ????

Thanks again for sharing this terrific ride !!

best regards..............// Ernie-NH

+1 on the ride report.

Ernie - pilot cars/trucks are typically used when one lane of a two lane road is closed for a distance - they lead/follow a single file of traffic to make sure there aren't any vehicles coming in the opposite direction. We have pilot cars here on the east coast, too.

Hi, J.O.,
Please wish Micki a very Happy Birthday from me. It was great meeting you both at Hungry Dungee. I'm looking forward to the next meeting, whenever and wherever it may be.

As always with you, great Picture Ride Report!
I wish have been with you in that turns......
Looks like a Indian 4 and an Harley Grey Fellow!

Heroic motorcycle days.
I have a Floyd Clymer book that describes that times in a very good way.
Thanks for sharing the pics, jo.

here be the rest of the story...

we rolled into the far western tavern in guadeloupe after dark... the goal was to sample the world famous santa maria bbq that bobby flay chronicled on the food channel...

kris had the sweetbreads...

micki and ed had the fillet...

i had the signature ribeye which they unsuccessfully tried to pass off as santa maria bbq...

after a well disserved night of rest and relaxation we rolled through the wineries to ca 229 where we met up with 1911... after our rendezvous with 1911 we rolled ca 58 towards towards our beloved bakersfield... home of buck owens... merle haggard... and bags o meat...

this is the world famous ca 58...

we rolled thru taft to ca 166 on our way to lebec to slabb the 5 to the 405...

climbing cerro noresto... yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa... a must ride... we did... both ways in two days...

there are cones... and there are silicones...

the steaming beaver restaurant at pine lodge...

m o salad...

rider burger...

birthdaygyrl burger...

so we slabbed it home... once we got to the 405 it quickly turned into a parking lot... even the blimp was parked...

It's even better one up. Thanks for turning me on to that one, Johnny. I had an awesome ride on it in January. Some pretty sweet smooth high speed sweepers there.

Foxen Canyon and Tepusquet are awesome roads! Man, it's been too long since I've done those...

What are they like with regards to the speed limits on those roads?
Are they strict or are the police non existant ? Just wondering because they look so inviting, just wondering if there was a down side ?
