Hi, Gwen,
And as I said in my letter, I'm still not sure if I'll be able to make it or not. If I can't, use the money for steaks, beer, your expenses (aggravation in putting up with us by doing the leg work in handling the reservations, etc.), or whatever. Just raise a glass, look to the West, and have a drink! I hope to be able to make it. I need to cook spaghetti and I said earlier that if Ernie brings the Irish whisky, I'll make Irish coffee. _________________ Ride Safe,

Yeah - originally (earlier in the thread) he was your brother - you can still be friends, right? _________________ Jim

Hey, I have an important update to share with you.
Jim and I talked and I now understand some things better.
First off, by filling three cabins to the rafters, we pretty much left ourselves no wiggly room. So this is what we did.
We canceled the FOURTH nights stay on cabins #10, #12, and #13. And then picked up a fourth cabin. (The only one open was Cabin #1) All cabins are for Thursday DAY & Thursday night, Friday DAY & Friday night, Saturday DAY & Saturday night and depart Sunday DAY.
By doing this, and using those recouped funds to reserve a fourth cabin (for the same nights as above) people can spread out a bit with regards to the sleeping arrangements.
AND we now have room for Ted, Phil and Audi if they can make it.
Basically we traded those three extra nights in cabins #10, #12, and #13 for three nights in cabin #1.
I think it was a good trade off because few if any were going to depart on Monday morning.
Now, Cabin #1 is a log cabin with two bedrooms. One room has two single beds and the other a double bed. Cots are available for rent, thus this cabin could sleep two more persons. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

One more thing....
This may very well be my only vacation this year.
So after Sunday I plan to wander up to Charleston WVa to then mozzy over to Cass.
I plan on just tooling around the 24th thru 26th and arrive home on the 27th.
If anybody wants to tag along, you are more than welcome. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Hi, Gwen, Ernie et al,
More bad news, if you want to call it that. As you probably know, I worked for a couple of years driving a gargantuan ore truck in the copper mine in Morenci, AZ. There was a big lay-off, about 2/3 of the mine, in Feb. 2009, effective 15 March. I have "callback rights" at THAT mine until March 15 (about a week from now). I had already been called by another mine (same company) about 50 miles away, and had applied for the job. That's the one I told you I was waiting to hear from. Today I got a call from the Morenci mine, if I wanted a job, I was being called back. I did the paperwork today, so I expect to be back working in maybe 3 weeks. I don't think I'll be able to make HMIII. If I don't get the job, get fired, whatever, there is a slight chance I could make it, but the chances look like slim and none, and Slim left town!
All of you, have a GREAT time. I'll be thinking of you. Retirement was great, while it lasted! _________________ Ride Safe,

Hi, Gwen,
I've made this offer to a couple of other people, too. I live in El Paso and have 2 K75 bikes, a single seat (ex-police) K75RTP and a dual seat, low seat K75A/3. I'm soon to get, also, a 1985 K100RT, in fact I'm driving to NC this week to haul it back on my trailer (hasn't been run for over 2 years, so I don't trust flying to NC to ride it back). I can only ride one bike at a time. If you (Steve, too, if I can get the K100 running) have any time and would like to ride some in the West, fly into El Paso. Use whichever bike you'd like to go wherever you want. _________________ Ride Safe,

Phil, first thank you for the offer.
Second, why not during your sign up time for the new job, negotiate.
State you've paid for reservations and you plan on going. Ask them how you both could work it out so you can go and still proceed with employment.
I've done this twice to good effect. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

I'm done guys, out. See here.

I'm not going to be able to work for at least 3 months. Since I paid for my spot, would anyone who is still planning to go but not paid consider buying my spot? It's only 80 bucks but every bit helps. If not, that's ok too. One of these years I will make it to HM. I thought this was the year for sure.
My riding/fishing/summer season is done too. I had big plans this year.
Someday I will meet all you tools.
Sean, keep Gwen warm for me. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Dave, I'll mail you a check today.
If you are available around 24th thru 26th, I know where I'll spending the last days of my vacation.
And if anybody wants to ride up to the Big Apple to pinch Dave's Hershey Kisses nipples with me, that would be great. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Hi, Gwen,
If things happen (or don't) here so that I can make it to HMIII, I'll be glad to go visit Dave with you. He and I don't agree politically on everything (who does?), but he's a great guy. Besides, somebody needs to give Paula a break. _________________ Ride Safe,

Hi Guy's,
Well the bikes are on there way and should be on the water by the 17th March, so its now just a matter of waiting for May to roll around and then we will be heading out as well, we really can't wait to get over there and get strated on the ride.
Sorry to hear OTG that you wont make it to HM, dont you just hate it when those sort of things happen, hope all goes well and that you are back in action soon.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and trying to be very careful that I dont do anything silly etc, I've told Gill that home improvements and climming ladders are off the agenda till I get back in July, so I think there will be a big list waiting when I get back.

SugarHillCTD gave me a GREAT IDEA!!!
After HM, I'm riding up to see OTG, so if anybody wants to bring something for me the haul up to him and Paula, I would be honored to deliver them. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore
