I can't believe it. Something on one of MY Ks failed today. The clutch switch went out when I was running errands on the RS. Oh, the horror! Shocked

Hi, Drake,
Then cut the wires, strip the cut ends and twist them together, and cover with electrical tape, or do it correctly and replace the switch. Of course, by the time you read this, you have probably already fixed it!

That actually is kind of funny considering how blessed your Ks have been.

Not blessed, loved. Although the LT is probably feeling neglected. The RS is by the garage door and I don't think I've ridden the LT since September. Maybe in December when the RS was in CA and I was home in between Tday and Xmas. But I got new tabs for it yesterday and plan to take it out in the near future..

I also have the advantage of having those bikes that I flip to ride so that keeps miles off of my "real" bikes. I do miss the blue one with the K12 engine,. That was a hoot to ride.

I've got a good used switch to swap. Went out tonight, pulled the (full) tank and confirmed my diagnosis so I'll install the switch in the morning when there's more light in the garage.

Hope you leg is healing up well, you gimp. Razz

Thanks mate I am actually making progress. I'm not so sure about the loved thing. My LT was loved and the bitch betrayed me many times. Same with Johns/Sugarhills. I think some are just better constructed than others, equal maintenance notwithstanding.

Considering age and how many xx thousands of cycles that these switches go through it's a wonder they last as long as they do.

I agree with OTG- some K's seem to be very low repairs, others quite a bit more Rolling Eyes Many factors beyond our control are at work here, long before the bike is in our garage: previous owner(s) riding habits, location(s) where it was stored, maintenance/repair frequency and the competency of the boob(s) turning the wrenches.

Excuse me now- I have to look at how to pull/inspect a driveshaft Shocked

No I did the one piece removal- trans/sw. arm/FD.
I am feeling an infrequent odd sensation at speed. I did PM Steve- remembering his "shafting" at HM last year. I am not sure if I am getting what he described as a very mild clunk while rotating the rear wheel with the bike on the centerstand.

I have a track day coming up then the 1700 mile round trip to HM. I "gots" to know.

Back to the HL cave..........

Thanks,
John

Er... sorry for the temporary hijack, FD

Replaced the switch this morning. Fortunately I was able to get the old one out with needlenose pliers. (Not always possible.)
