Hey Duck.....I can confirm the belly pan screws from him are the next best thing to OEM screws (and as far as I know...he's the only guy out there with them)....I posted some pictures years ago here...but they've probably dropped off over time....I'll post them again for you and any of the others. Just remember folks if you use anything other then OEM or Desmo's belly pan screws, you can eventually chew up, crack or destroy the mounting holes:
Sorry the images are a little fuzzy....but I don't have the bike or the screws to reshot the pictures....hope it's some help for those of you thinking of changing out those rusting black OEM screws....the SS fasteners really set off the K11's _________________ REDBRICK, '96RS (formerly owned), K11OG#5

I've got 'em on my bike and love them (as well as their other kit) , they still look good after a few years. Mine fit pretty tight, you can overtighten them a bit before they bottom out, I try no to crank them down too tight, just snug.
Maybe the clips that the screws screw into are not set right, not allowing them to go deep enough to tighten things up? _________________ Steve

On my first '94 RS, I used some titanium fasteners...which looked cool...but really ended up destroying the bellypan mounting screw holes. I noticed the little dimples that have begun to collapse at your mounting points....that is how mine started to go bad too. I ended up selling that bike in '96 and going to a '96 R11RT (the bike from hell...or how to build a bike after or during Oktoberfest)...which I had about 6 months and ended up buying one of the last '96 K11RS's. I took some precautionary steps with that bike by applying some nice rubber grommets under the new stainless steel fasteners available at the time....well to make a long story short...the bellypan started dimpling again....that's when I decided to add the aluminum pieces to the bellypan assembly (note picture below) to address that issue.
Awhile later I came across the Desmo site where they had started doing kits for other bikes. Can't remember who the gentleman was there, but I called and spoke to him to see if he had any interest in doing the K11's. He said he had already done a kit for a K100 and would be interested in adding the K11 to his list. But he needed someone locally in Houston who could provide a bike to do the kits from. I said....I think we just might be able to help at the K11OG....I posted a notice announcing he was looking for someone with a K11 that would work with him. I believe it was Carl that responded to offer his RS....and his bike is posted at Desmo's site...in infamy for all time.....at any rate that's how this interesting issue was addressed.
For all of you new or old K11RS owners....I would strongly recommend that in addition to the great matching SS bellypan screws from Desmo, you consider doing what you can see I did to mine in the picture below. It really isn't that hard....just takes some time and patience to get the right bend in the aluminum. It is the one thing that will keep the mounting holes from crushing....no matter how tightly you torque the screws in to place. And when you consider what a new bellypan sells for, you'll be inclined to appreciate the end result. I bought the stock at Home Depot and spent several days bending, twisting and cussing like a sailor to get the right bend and then drilled and polished them out....they really do set the bike off and give it a snappier appearance.
So for those of you that don't know what I'm talking about here's one of the pictures of my '96K11RS, bought new in '96...the strips were fabricated in '97 and were still working great (and kept the bellypan in good shape) and looking good when I sold it in 2007.
On the positive side....after I did the bellypan mod, I really got into the aluminum strips and modified my City and Touring bags to give them some added strength too.
ONE LAST NOTE:
I'm facing the same issue with my Triumph ST....the fasteners will shake out if you don't tighten them sufficiently....but when you do it distorts the fairing and mounting holes.....so....look out aluminum...here I come _________________ REDBRICK, '96RS (formerly owned), K11OG#5

Doh! more stuff to do. I would have thought a thin layer of rubber underneath the aluminium to seat it? _________________ K1100RS '97

It's on the webpage, but not easy to find. I think they're hiding from the bots... I don't know the new guys there, but Chris Powers, the owner, is a really good guy. I don't know why he doesn't have the LT listed with the other kits. Maybe I need to go back there to get some more stainless hardware... _________________ Jim

Man I love looking at Alans old RS. Makes me damp.
It's too bad it was sold shortly after I joined. Also too bad the new owner has not found us.
How much did you get for it again Alan? 5k? _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Yes....senior moment I guess....I forgot to mention that, I had some rubber sheeting that I trimmed and glued to the underside of the aluminum strips. _________________ REDBRICK, '96RS (formerly owned), K11OG#5
