I can tell the steering head bearings are way loose on my LT and it bugs the heck out of me, especially at low speed. However, once I have the nut and the bolt loose, I can't get the silver thing to turn. Any hints?

I couldn't speak specifically to yours, but shog's husband just put a massive pair of channel locks on my threaded colloar and heaved it tight.

No issues since. The dominant issues was one of properly seating the bearings in their races, and on reassembly, there was just enough play left in the system to get some front end "jiggle".

Not any more.

Did you loosen the top triple clamp ? Do you use the spacer when you adjust your bearings ? Could be that the top triple clamp is keeping the bearing holder (big silver thing) from turning. I have found (after 20 years of doing it wrong) that the only way to set up the bearings correctly is with the spacer. Good luck........... Jim...

I still need to add fork boots to that bike so I thin know may be the time to drop the forks and perhaps that will make it easier. Good idea.

Yes, I have a spacer tool.
