Hi guys,
I've now collected most of the parts for my 3 main projects.
The k100 Streetfighter is getting a wheel upgrade [ K1200 ] after I ended up with a couple of "spares" for the Race Rep.
I've already fitted the 5" 5 spoke Wobbly in the rear [ no probs]. but wondered if anyone knows what is required to fit the front? I know a guy on this forum has done it - but there are no details of what he had too.
While we're at it - anyone fitted Wire spoked R1150GS wheels?
I've got the back one fitted - it's the front again that will test the grey matter. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

If anybody's got a "how to" for the front wheel swap, i'd be interested in it too. _________________ "04 Suzuki SV650S (sold)

Splund,
I'll be doing an initial check out next week - when I can dig my K1100RS rolling chassis from the back of the storage space!
On first casual check, it seems that the K1200 spindle IS different. Think I'll buy a 1200 spindle before I begin, at least that way I can scope the variables.
I've got to do the same excercise with an R1150GS front wheel [ wire spoked ] for a Cafe Racer project I'm building.
Pity they can't be a simple swap in like the rears !! _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

Splund, looks like we're on our own with this one. I know several people have done it [ one on this forum ] - but nobody seems to want to share their knowledge.
OK - so far. Preliminary check shows that the K1100 spindle is 5mm greater dia. than the K1200.
However, the k1200 spindle uses a bush to make up from the 20mm spindle diameter to the locating bore in the fork leg. I'm taking a punt that the bore of the fork leg is the same for both models.
The shoulder on the K1100 spindle also has a slightly different spacing from the k1200.
My next step is to get a k1200 spindle and assembly and see where that takes me. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

Finding a right sized bush to bring the k12 spindle up to the relevant size ought not to be to difficult a challenge. However spacing and alignment of brakes and discs worry me a bit. I don't have an k12 parts to compare them with but please keep in touch with your developments.
