OK,
All you mates from down under (Paul, Darryl, drikko, plus all the others I forgot to name)- does it really look like this????
Sorry for combining OZ and NZ, but until we get there (a not so subtle hint Paul and Darryl) the entire region seems as it might be, uh, inverted
Hope this isn't in bad northern hemisphere taste- I just saw it on the ADV site and thought of you guys.

Yep, that's exactly how it is. Makes it easier to drink shedloads of beer as you don't have to tip the can upside down.

And of course the hoop snakes - they're an even bigger problem in some areas. Not to mention the bunyip which is somewhat easier to avoid as it is a creature of the water; the Kiwis also have these creatures, known there as Taniwha, pronounced tanifar.
The 'wh' in Maori is pronounced as 'f' in a lot of areas, which leads to much mirth for non-Kiwis watching the TV snow reports for Whakapapa _________________ David, owner of:

Yup there's the big continent.
The great southern land laying across the warm pacific like an open palm;
Generous, friendly, giving and forgiving ....
Yup that's us....
But where are you guys...
Looks like you're on the pointy end..
Have a great day and get ready to put them bikes to sleep for winter ...
All the very best and thanks so much for the K11OG.. |

Hi Guy's,
Only just spotted your post John ! as the super highway takes a bit longer to reach NZ or is it that I'm just slack on the computer ! yes its the latter.
Having just been over to Aus for a couple of weeks I can safely say Aus is now the right way up after the Rugby Tri Nations games as they finally realized that it was easier to hold on to the ball that way. '
That "f" word does cause some problems ! but us Poms are slowly educating the natives
So when you come down to the Southern Hemisphere John, make sure that you visit Aus first and save the best till last, NZ _________________ Paul & Gill

And your sunnies. And your cruise control.
And nothing like a down under Christmas too, a different kind of white-out... this was New Years day... Rudolph might have ended up on the BBQ, but that's about it!
And yes the lake is that colour; it's silica in the meltwater coming off the glaciers (Lake Tekapo, for those compulsive Googlers); sadly the K11OG stickers were back on the sidecases at Twizel. |

+1 Max. Great picture.
Envy all of you as you get closer to your summer.
Starting to be heated gear weather here. Had my grip heaters on last Sunday. Hope to get a few weeks (maybe 2+ months if winter holds off like last year ) with heated gloves and jacket liner.
Paul, Darryl and everyone else hanging on to Earth with their fingernails have fun in the warm.

The suction boots are a great help, especially if it rains
UnZud is certainly pretty, nestled there in the good ol South Pacific,
but if you like it warm, Oz is the go
Wishing all our northern hemisphere friends an extended riding season and a winter that is not too severe
Ive heard the ice spikes on the tyres are pretty handy
All good to Uze now and thanks so much for this great K11OG,
Ride on

They'd be real handy here right now, the little dog next door just won't stop freakin' barking!! Ice spikes on the K would sort that out in seconds!! _________________ K1100RS '97

Yes thats a great pic Max and the south island is just full of that sort of vistas, mind you we do have a few good ones on the North Island, this view is one that I never tire of which is of Mt Ruapehu heading north on SH 4, I always tend to forget about it and then all of a sudden you round a corner and there it is smack in front of you just brilliant.
Cheers from NZ's increasingly warmer & longer day's,
Paul NZ

You don't have to tell me about the Nth Island - grew up in Wanganui, went to Massey and had the first 3 Ks (100RT, 2 x 100RS) up there... did a lot of touring up/around the central plateau, great with loads of options for all sorts of loops esp from Palmerston Nth.
So when you down next? Got a spare K11OG sticker down here if I can find it! <grin> |

Hi Paul,
it's a small world! We met by the bridge at the Pukekohe classic bike race meet this year. I was asking you about the "C" bar conversion you have on your 95 RS.
cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Yes I remember, its always a great meeting that one and I go every year, I've posted a couple of pic's from 2008, one of NZer's Rod Colman ( 1954 Junior TT winner ) & Ken McIntosh discussing the in's and out's of American motorcycle museum owner Virgil Elings ex Mike Hailwood works 500 Honda 4, who is keeping a close eye on them ! as it was said that he as turned down over a Million UK pounds for it !!!, the other pic is of the classic sidecars lining up under the bridge you mentioned.
Do any of the US KOG members know of Virgil ?
The bar conversion on my 93 RS are from a K75C and fitted straight on the 1100 I just had to gain a little more length on the cables etc which was fine and are not to tight, and it just give me a bit more of an up right position that I was looking for.
Will you be over again for the Classic Meeting next year ?
Cheers,
Paul NZ

I did the RS to C conversion on my bike as well. I actually used the K100 standard bar heated grip kit so I could have heated grips and keep the bar end weights. Made a WORLD of difference _________________ Ted

Probably not. My bank balance hasn't recovered yet from the last trip! Besides, I'd want to stay longer next time to catch the street races a fortnight later.
cheers,
