|

I noticed the previous post concerning plug wires. I am a "do-it-yourself" type. I know you can buy RAM or Magnecor plug wire sets, but I decided to make my own. The hard part to find is the coil "cap".
If anyone is interested .... you can order the proper coil caps from
http://kingsborne.com
The coil cap is BERU VESO 116 ... $6.75 ea. it has a built-in 1K resistor just like the OEM part. The plug cap, I bought from auto parts .... they had to order it. It is a stock NGK cap. NGK # XD05FP ... about $3.00 ea. It has a built-in 5K resistor just like the OEM part. The OEM plug wire on my K1100 was stranded copper core .... so I replaced it with good silicone copper core from kingsborne ( you can get this about everywhere). Both coil & plug caps have a "wood screw" type connection for the copper wire ..... just like the OEM caps.
Just thought someone might be interested ...... _________________ 1997 K1100-LT

Yeah, but what color are they?
On a serious note, that's pretty cool that you built your own. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Another source of pats is a company called Goldwagon.
They sell patern VW and Opel parts and have distributers worldwide.
A buddy of mine recently bought caps to fit the coils from them, seems they are used on many VW's and Opels.
