|
|
I am looking for a fuel line quick connector for the high pressure side of the fuel system (36 psi,I understand ?) To facilitate Tank removal when there is fuel in the tank. (1993 K1100RS)
I have tried a reasonably priced " standard" thermoplastic type, but it leaks under pressure .
I enquired of one supplier of Aircraft fuel line supplies, but they only guarantee their products for low pressure fuel systems.
High pressure, quality items seem rare on this side of the Atlantic.
Any Uk based riders found an appropriate and not wildly expensive item ?

Hi Granth....
During the HMSP-III I saw that Brother Rich ( Raal88 ) from Baltimore was using very nice quality 'quick disconnects' for his gas lines and I asked where he got them... He sent me to:

and I think you'll like then too.
Good luck and best regards......// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Gday Granth
Have you considered a marine (outboard motor) quick disconnect, stainless steel and cheap. Contrary to what your aviation supplies man said 36 psi is very low pressure, think the marine unit would be fine. Every time I remove the tank I think thats a modification worth doing.
Good luck with it.

I think you'll find that 36psi is a lot lower than the pressure in the system. The K series fuel injection system is a continous circuit which runs at 140psi along the fuel rail and back to the tank so you will need some higher rated couplings. Have you looked at Nippy Normans as ther sell them for the GS boys which will be rated high enough.

Most of the K bike sites I have looked at appear to say that normal fuel pressure in these systems is 36-40 psi, occassionally spiking, say on start up,to 60 psi ? Even saw one with a video with external fuel pressure guage showing 40 psi on K-bikes.com ?
I have'nt had any luck yet finding the relevant item on the Nippy Normans site,so I may E-mail them, thanks. _________________ 1993(94 MODEL) K1100RS IN ASTRAL BLUE
