Savage Edge .223 with Bushnell scope
Shoots pretty well too.
Top is a Remington 12g 870 Express Pump in a tactical setup.
Recently got a Surefire 70 lumen light for it.
In the process of getting my pistol permit, will pick up a 9mm.
Why? I like shooting. Simple as that.
Try not to turn this into some lame-assed political firearm thread. Stay on topic. If you love/own guns, show em off. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

They will let you have those on the left coast?
Here in the "live free or die" state no pistol permit is required if you carry it openly. We only need a permit to carry concealed.
Here's our home defense system...
12 gauge pump, 9mm Beretta

These are the only guns you'll find around here, mostly used by kids young and old:-

Campfire, Dungeon, whatever.
The shotgun is for the "cha-clunk" loading sound as the shell is pumped into the chamber. Several gun owners tell me that sound alone will likely freeze a two-legged intruder- and pulling the trigger will slow down or stop big critters.
The 9mm? I am in local government and more than one weekly N.H. town meeting has had a violent, gun-wielding, unexpected guest.

A buddy of mine lived in a not so great area apartment in the Bay Area when he was young. One night he heard someone climbing over the railing of his balcony. One pump of his 12 ga and the prospective thief was GONE. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Having to protect yourself with guns doesn't sound like living free to me, that sounds more like living in fear. Not needing them sounds free-er. _________________ K1100RS '97

Contrary to what many people believe from American TV shows and news, the US is not the wild, wild west. Though I could get a concealed weapons permit if I chose to I have lived my entire life never feeling the need to have a gun with me. (OK, maybe when some ducks fly over me. ) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

This old story out of The South. Seems a guy cruises thru a stop sign, or
whatever, and gets pulled over by a local policeman. Guy hands the cop his
driver's license, insurance verification, plus his concealed carry permit.
"Okay, Mr. Smith," the cop says, "I see your CCW permit. Are you carrying
today?"
"Yes, I am."
"Well then, better tell me what you got."
Smith says, "Well, I got a .357 revolver in my inside coat pocket. There's
a 9mm semi-auto in the glove box. And, I've got a .22 magnum derringer in
my right boot."
"Okay," the cop says. "Anything else?"
"Yeah, back in the trunk, there's an AR15 and a shotgun. That's about it."
"Mr. Smith, are you on your way to or from a gun range...?"
"Nope."
"Well then, what are you afraid of...?"
"Not a damn thing..." _________________ 1993 K1100LT/On going project

Yep, which is why I looked it up. I have played that song for years but never realised the significance of it. Left me totally cold. _________________ K1100RS '97

Actually guns in America are more for preventing that from happening.
Which is ironic because our government is more of a totalitarian regime that it was back in the day when the Constitution was drafted.
The idea of demonstrations or Americans actually doing anything other than watch Dancing with the Stars while scarfing McDonald's is laughable, at best.
| Quote: | To Europeans, for example, a gun is a weapon, pure and simple.
To many, but not all Americans, it is a badge of independence, and self-reliance - the tool of the engaged citizen who does not think that either the criminal, or the forces of the state, should have a monopoly on deadly force.
Show us a gun, and we picture a muscular ne'er-do-well in a balaclava menacing an elderly sub-postmistress.
An American is more likely to visualize a plucky homesteader crouching between an overturned sofa in a burning ranch house, preparing to defend his family to the death. |

I would hope people haven't forgotten that Japan didn't invade the United States in WWII, because their leadership knew it's citizens were armed.
Also the city in the U.S. with the strictest gun laws has the highest crime. "Washington D. C."
Criminals will always have weapons. The gun control laws are against those who follow the laws.
We arm ourselves, because there is crime. If there were no criminals, I would gladly dismantle my arsenal.

The great state of Illinois just had legislation introduced which proposed public listing of all owners of firearms. The United States of Shame listed Illinois as the state leading the nation in robbery. This way the politicians will fix it so their friends can come in and take whatever they didn't get with their taxes.
A few weekls ago, while I was out with dog, (West Highland Terrier, good companion, not vicious or protective) my house was robbed. They took some tools, a digital camera, laptop, (lost a few photos) and a Maria (and Julian) Martinez pot. (value close to two K11 bikes) The pot has been in the family since 1930's. (sort of irreplaceable) Reported to police. They took photos of footprints in snow. I gave them s.n. of camera, etc. I was at another city office Thursday. A lieutennant with the police department came in. He asked if I was there to see him. I said, "No, but since you asked, has there been any progress finding the pot I reported stolen a few weeks ago?" The officer seemed interested. Requested additional information about the pot. (couldn't help myself)
Fortunately they didn't take, or get into my safe. |
