| Here and here. The pipe looks like it might be rusted, but maybe that's just a reflection. 11K miles. Nice looking scoot, if a bit hard to get to, out here in the midst of the Western Wastelands. |

VERY nice.
My previous K-RS was the same price with 25,000 miles.
Someone should snap this one up. _________________ John & Cathy

Tempting! Would have to sell my blue 93 1st. Anyone interested? It has 72k mi. and in nice condition despite a low speed slide...minor scratches on the Staintune, bellypan, upper and side fairing. Flying Duck can vouch for me on these details. Mine has lots of extras, some I'd like to transfer over to such a newer bike.
$3,000 with full Staintune exhaust, but w/o reynolds rack & backrest/trunk/Hella auxilary lights/corbin dual canyon/slotted rear disc/new Pilot Road 2's.
Only regret would be to eventually replace another front master cylinder AGAIN...part was $371 plus tax...and a pain to thread the wiring for the heated grips to replace that part. But the trade-off would be a very low mileage bike...hmmm. |

Oh man? I wish I'd seen yours first. That is sweeter than mine. Exact same year but I got the all black bags. Either way a great deal on this bike. Maybe I should break in to my bank account. No dollars left, sorry. _________________ Live free and ride hard. 94 K1100RS Brick rider |

For those of you who've bought a low-mileage bike like this, would you anticipate any problems based on 11k miles over 17 years? I know it's a bit of a crapshoot, but how easy would it be to spot some of the potential problems--leaky seals, deterioration, etc. I checked in the Tech section and couldn't see what I was look for, but might not have been looking in the right spots, so if you could point me toward any relevant threads or if you have any experience with this, it would be appreciated. Thanks

The worst I have experienced was a Yamaha FJ1200 I bought once that had been sitting for awhile - it had badly corroded brake and clutch hydraulics but the motor was still plenty strong .
No way that I know to anticipate seal leakage or other degradation except by the usage pattern. If it was ridden regularly, even if low miles each year, and maintenance was performed according to the annual requirement, I expect the bike would be fine. If on the other hand it spent some of that time sitting for extended periods without being prepped, or fluids were not flushed at least annually - there could well be issues. _________________ 2012 R1200RT Midnight Blue

I bought my '97 at 7yrs old with 7K miles on it and had the front master cyl, as well as both fork seals start leaking within the 1st year. _________________ Ride safe.

I bought my 93 LT in 04 with a bit less than 14k on it. It had not been ridden/serviced in quite a while. (I could tell by the 18 layers of barn dust on it and the brake fluid that looked like used motor oil. )
Turned 50k on Wednesday. The only issue it's had was the seal at the rear of the clutch pushrod many moons ago and last summer one of the fork seals started leaking. (Swapped in some other forks until I get around to putting the Works springs in.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)
