I can't make my mind up if I like having a topbox or not, its handy for crash helmets etc but does it take away the looks of the bike? I've never been a topbox type of guy. What about panniers, do they? Heres pics with and without.
Any views please. |

I hate topboxes, they look.....sorry I can't use the really happy word here.
I like the rack and bag thing like this:-

Had the 22L top box on my previous K-RS. Not too big- didn't detract from the bikes appearance, but too small to be useful.
IMHO, I think that top boxes that are big enough to be functional look awkward on sport bikes. Might have something to do with visual proportions. The 35(?)L top box on a K-LT doesn't seem as out of place.
My present K-RS doesn't even have the little sloping rack. So I am going with the panniers only. Maybe a small bag on the rear seat for longer trips. _________________ John & Cathy

I think the factory (BMW) top box looks fine. Only thing is it doesn't hold much more than rain gear. _________________ 2000 R1100RT

Ok I have taken off topbox and put original rack back on, I think it looks better, any other opinions?

It most definitely looks best with no top case and the factory rack. I only run a top case when I'm touring and need the room. Except for the LT but I leave that on for the rear speakers. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
