|
|
Hey, my first post - what a great site!!!!!
I am the new owner of a 94 K1100LT. First order of business was to install a new battery which has left the radio in security mode. I have no documentation therefore no code. I have done the forum searches and have called Max BMW as well with no luck. I would rather stay stock for now.
Looks like there has been some luck with this UK web site http://www.dndservices.co.uk/e-code-bmw-motorcyle.html that will retrieve your code if you give the jumper info. I have my jumper info. it is 1000111010 (=570 decimal) S/N of radio is 0003947.
My question(s). Does anyone have the information on their jumper locations and their radio S/N? Setting the jumpers seems simple enough as I have alot of PCB solder experience. I would like to try to set my jumpers to line up with an existing S/N and see if that will unlock the radio.
I also am wondering what S/N would equate to all jumpers removed or all jumpers installed. The jumpers seem to be a simple 10 digit binary code but equating this to only 1 thru 6 on the radio number pad has me stumped?
Thanks _________________ 94 K1100LT

a911 - have you looked in the tail cowl storage section to see if the owner's manual, radio manual and tool kit are in there? Hey - there's always a chance, right? If the radio manual is there, there's a chance the original card (plastic - like a credit card) is there - or maybe someone wrote the code in the manual.
If you ever get the code, write it on the side of the radio with a Sharpie.
Other than that, I'm no help at all... _________________ Jim

a911, I'd be glad to try to help, where are the jumpers located. I have a radio on the shelf and I have the code, but don't know where to find the jumpers. _________________ Lee Richter

When I got my bike it did not come with the code. I went to my local BMW dealer and explained the situation. They made me verify that the bike was actually mine and not stolen and then they were able to get the radio code for me by getting the VIN and engine number. If it is the original radio that came with the bike they should be able to do the same for you. _________________ Rich

If you didn't talk to Rusty at Max, you should try again. _________________ Jim

Thanks for the help. I actually did get a call from BMW of Denver last night and she gave me my code (4255). Very helpful folks. I would still like to decipher the jumpers though - maybe another day when bored. _________________ 94 K1100LT

Lee, if you go to the web page I have in my original post it explains the jumpers. Just take the cover off and they are near the front fascia. _________________ 94 K1100LT

BMW will not be of help if the bike did not come from the factory with the radio.
Just remove all the jumpers. The code is then 1111. If you need to reset the CATS system to enter it, press and hold the ST button until it clears and then enter the 1111. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Well, I'll be damned. Clarion France took pity on me and sent me the unlock code after I complained about bouncing from the web, to the BMW dealer, to a Clarion dealer and back to their contact form. Works now. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.
