A couple of days ago, i switched on the hazard lights on my LT, but they would not turn off again. did the obvious, disconnected the switch. They carried on flashing at me! I had to pull the fuse to stop them, which meant no indicators and no clock. I took the relay off my older ex police bike and it all works fine again. I had a good look around for other people experiencing the same problem and did find a couple. I believe a new relay is 67 quid. Motorworks said that they would supply a used relay for £22.00. I opened the unit and plugged it in. It was still in hazard mode. I expected to find a fused contact but everything was free. There were lots of other components in there but nothing looked damaged or discoloured. I bought the bike fairly recently and at the time of purchase the hazards didn't work. The wires were corroded at the back of the switch so after resoldering, it all worked fine. Maybe the failure has something to do with the hazards not being used for a long time? Who knows.Having a donor bike to swap parts over from to eliminate faults is priceless. _________________ K1100 lt 97' |
