I was in the process of removeing the lower right fairing for a Radiator flush, when I noticed the lower right hose was collasped. The collasped section was just after the turn, and just before the hose attaches to the water pump. This is the hose that goes threw the right engine cover. I called the dealer, and they said they could have me a new one next week. Has anyone else had this happen??? I don't think a hose should ever collaspe. Coments welcome... _________________ Lifes too short to ride an ugly Motorcycle |

Sounds odd. I've never seen or heard of that happening. Doesn't mean it hasn't though.
It's not a very fun piece of hose to remove or, worse yet, install. I'd recommend using lots of Armor All as a lubricant. If you can get the cross-section folded over into a U shape that should make it easier. Worked for me anyhow when I was building my K75. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I got the old one out without much trouble. Just for fun I tried to reinstall it. That didn't go as well. I decided not to force it. When I get back to it, I'll lube it real good before I try to put it on. I'm leaving for Colorado next Wednesday. I should be gone a couple of weeks. I had already planed to take another bike. When I return, I'll get back to the old K and let ya'all know how it works out. Kenny... _________________ Lifes too short to ride an ugly Motorcycle |

Dose the hose return to the original shape when you open the radiator cap?
If it dose, you may have a bad radiator cap.
It may not allow fluid from the reservoir to reenter the cooling system when the engine cools down. _________________ 86 R80G/S

I have not even removed the cap. I'll have a look at it when I put everything back together. Is there any way to check or test it? _________________ Lifes too short to ride an ugly Motorcycle |

The most simple way to check would be to mount everything back together.
And observe the level in the expansion tank between cold and varm engine.
It should rise as engine varms up, and returning when engine being cold.
If it not returns, you need a new cap.
Test values (K100) expect K11 to be similar: opens 1.1bar returns -0.1bar.

A crude way to test the radiator cap is to remove the filler neck from the frame and the hoses.
Then put the filler cap on the neck and suck on the large hose connection with your mouth.
You should be able to suck air through the filler cap, then close the small hose connection ( to reservoir ) with your finger and air flow should stop. _________________ 86 R80G/S
