Hi everyone
just thought I would show u some goods points of my ride in NZ, just spent 12 days away on the bike did 4300kms most days 4 to 500kms 3 days of only 150kms and less.
5 bike ,3 brothers 1 freind and one brother inlaw and what fun we had riding a good part of NZ .
Started in Whangarei Sunday May 29th 3 of us and rode to Rotorua the long way Ross on a 96 Triumph Tiger 900 ,Kevin on a 91 Kawasaki Voyager and me Darryl on a 2006 R1100s, stayed with Murray my Brother who rides a 96 R850R in Rotorua and met up with Mike who rides a 2010 F800GS on Monday. The Next day 5 of us heading for for Wellingto to catch the 830pm Ferry to Picton in the South Island, of cause the long way again .
Arrived in Picton 11.30pm and headed to out tourist flat at the campground.
Tuesday we left aound 9am and took the scenic route the Queen Charlletts Sound road in Thick fog ,from here headed to Nelson then again the long way to greymouth via St Anauld and Blackball.
Wensday down to the Fox and Fran Joseph Glassiers then carried on through the Haast Pass to Wanaka Awsome ride to day through and around the mountains and lakes.
Thursday over the mountain and into Skippers Canyon for a Jet boat ride then into Queenstown to get the R850 checked out as it has got a noisy gearbox, while there I fitted 2 new tires on the R1100s.
Friday we went up the Gondaler for a great Veiw of Queenstown and also had a luge ride ( a race), then onto to Aleandra for the night .
Saturday we headed to the Brass Monkey Rally to camp for the night in normally around -16 but not this time as we have had the best waether ever, not needing any of our cold cloths .
Sunday we left around 9am and headed for Christchurch via Lake Tekapo , Mt St John.
Lucky I had my radar as we came across campervans parked with speed cameras in them.
Monday we headed off over the Arthers Pass back to the west Coast then bacck over the Lewis Pass to Hamner Springs for a soak in the hot pools. today another Awsome ride through to Mountains.
Tusday a back road up to Kiakoura then to Blenhim where we took another back road around the coast and hills all dirt ,wet and clay (man was this hard on the R1100s) to Picton to catch the 630pm ferry to Wellington. Arrived in Wellington 1030pm and had to find our way to the camp ground .
Wensday up to Rotorua for the night .Kevin carried onto Auckland then decided to go all the way back to Whangarei
Thurday Ross and I left Rotorua for Auckland to have lunch with rosses daughter then up to Whangarei .

Hey, Drikko- you fellas might have a serious large fire competitor down in NZ. Laughing

Darryl,

Thanks for the trip report and the great pictures. Looks like the bunch of you had a terrific trip. I particularly like the switchback road.

Now when can Cathy and I get there??????? We have GOT to schedule this.

John
