If you don`t feel a very slight movement on the screen motor when operating the switch, your motor is probably toast.

But you could check the wiring: remove the connector at the motor, measure at the blue and the grey wire, both should be grounded.
Remove both relays, measure terminal 87 (red wire) in both sockets, it should be 12V+.

Right, After i found power coming in via two wires going into the motor one when i pressed the down button and one when i pressed the up button i removed the motor today and striped it down. This is what i found Sad

It was very hard to turn the shaft and i don't think it looks right so now I'm looking for a new motor Wink

Next i had a look at the red triangle/back light, With the lights turned of and after Ive held the back brake on for a few second the light flashes instead of staying on permanently, The front brake makes no difference.
So i removed the tail light but every thing looked OK, except there was an extra wire connected that heads off on its own to-wards the front of the bike and another thing i noticed was In the manual it says remove the electronic control unit from inside the rear space where you undo the screws hold the light cover on but there was no electronic control unit in there Rolling Eyes

And does anyone know what this is for ?

Motor looks fine to me, probably just needs front bearing lubing.
I have been told Peugeot 306 window motors are similar (unconfirmed).
I would disconnect that Black wire & see what happens, it's obviously non standard. My 97 K only has the connector behind the rear lamp.

As for the connector in the last picture, I think tis for a BMW alarm system IIRC the red wire has unswitched +12, which I used for my Starcom Advance.

Warwick isn't that far from me (5 miles South of A46 - A52 Junction) if you wished to "pop up" to compare notes? SWMBO is working 1st Weekend in Oct so we would have a nag free time.

Thanks for that Tim, I don't think i can get the motor back together as the bushes are stopping it but how do i get to the front bearing just in case ? I have a local breakers so i might pop round there sometime.

Unfortunately the first weekend in October i am competing in the Hafren Rally over in Wales on my KTM as below Wink

Early ABS models did have the ABS ECU in the ducktail.

Often it´s the part of the axle between the motor and the gear that is corroded.

1. Rear end of motor can be removed together with brushes/brushholders
2. It´s a worm gear, unscrew the rotor from the gearbox.

Be accurate when putting things back together.
1. Align wires to get a paralell lift, easy to get one tooth wrong.
2. Align wires/mechanism with microswitces, so you don´t burn the motor when moving the screen completly up/down.
(And not reaching the full travel in the opposite direction).

Right thats the starter motor gone Sad Pulled it off today after i got the "click" again and sure enough the brushes had had it, Ordered some new ones from Motoworks Wink

The screen motor will be looked at over the next few weeks when i get some spare time but for now i have been able to get it down as far as it will go and that fine.

New brushes fitted and the bike has been fine all week Wink I have done about 250 miles in five days,

I cut the extra black wire coming from the tail light and found it had power coming from both ends when earthed Question but made no difference to the red triangle, That flashes when the lights are off but stays on permanently with the lights switched on and i can find no problems with the lights Sad

I think the screen motor has been looked at by a previous owner as the screw on the end has been rounded of but i will try and get it out some time.

It flashes until the ABS self have been completed (if you got the first generation ABS),
you need to get bike above 6 km/h to complete the self test.
If it remain flashing, the self test can`t be completed caused by a malfunctioning ABS.

About permanently on with lights on: it indicates a problem with your tail light, if your tail light functioning,
I`ll guess it`s something wrong with the bulb monitoring relay itself.

About screw in the end: you mean where the motor shaft ends in the gearbox?
It isn`t a screw but a bushing, and it`s glued and you don`t need to remove it.

It`s a worm gear, just turn the rotor and it would come out of the gearbox.
Since you earlier mentioned that it as hard to turn, it`s not uncommon with corrosion build up on the shaft (where I placed the arrow).

I stripped the screen motor down, cleaned it out and now it works Smile but it was different to the picture above there was a ball shape in the rod just where the arrow is and a clip thing holding it, When i tried it without the clip it worked so i have put in all back together with out the clip Laughing it should work fine without it looking at the way its designed.

Next up i will be looking the red triangle, I always ran the bike with the lights on so tried it with the lights off and it goes out after a minute or so Very Happy but comes back on when i turn the lights on Crying or Very sad

How many miles are you chaps getting to a tank of fuel and whats the range on reserve ?
