I am looking at doing a cafe racer project. The bike I am looking at has a vin that is no longer in any MVD. How would I go about getting a title for this.
Thanks for you help. _________________ Rich

Hey Rich - it's different in different states - DMV's are operated by the states. Look at the NM DMV website - there should be info there. If not, you'll have to call them.
You'll probably have to go for an abandoned vehicle title. _________________ Jim

Hey Jim,
How's it going? How'd you fare with the weather? I'll give MVD a call tomorrow and see what they say. I am currently looking at a 77 Honda CB550F as a cafe racer project but there is a K75 not to far from here that might be a prospect.
Take care, _________________ Rich

If it's not in a database, it really shouldn't matter as you are making modifications from original build anyway.
I don't think it would be much different than registering a home-made trailer or anything else home built. Give it a number(or use the original if you want) and have an inspection, and I think you would be good.
But like Jim suggested contact you local dmv office. _________________ Ride safe.
