after a 4 month layup guilt set in so I took the K for a spin and was impressed by intermittent wafts of smoke/steam rising from engine block up beside right hand pocket complete with nasty smell. Trusting that it was only a rodent being fricasseed i persisted and every now and then a noisome puff would rise. I suspect radiator coolant. The overflow tank is full and i believe the radiator cap is a dodgy type. I enjoyed the spin despite wondering at the beginning would I be cremated on the M8. If anyone can confirm or compare symtoms i'd be ecstatic. JC _________________ slyderx

Sounds like the rad cap to me. If there's no great loss from the header/overflow tank I can't think of anything else, and a K100RS I had some years ago did something similar which was down to a knackered rad cap. _________________ '93 K1100LTSE, ABS1 in Black 'Connie' |
