Anyone ever heard of such a thing for the k1100? I ask as someone on eBay uk is claiming to sell them for early K11's. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks. _________________ '93 K1100LTSE, ABS1 in Black 'Connie' |

Have you ever heard of "snake oil"?
Any of the eBay performance chips I have seen do very little good for a K bike but increase the seller's wallet size.

I thought that was the case, but I thought I'd ask as I know that there are chips (I.e. power commander) for some of the R types. _________________ '93 K1100LTSE, ABS1 in Black 'Connie' |

Mick, you could research it a little closer but I have read that the 1985K100 has a "hotter" european cam setup than later years. Not sure how easy to find them now but its been reported to be around 10hp increase over the now stock cam. _________________ Ride safe.

Hi, Scott,
The 1985 K100 bikes came in 2 flavors - 49 state version and CA version. The 49 state version was rated at 90 horsepower and the CA version at 82 horsepower. One of the differences was the cams. _________________ Ride Safe,

Thanks for all the info, it's much appreciated. I was asking as I had never heard of a 'power chip' for the early K11's until I saw the ad. I'm not really bothered about upping the power as I'm happy with the performance of my bike as it is.
Interesting about the cams though. I had an '85 model K100RS that did seem a bit quicker than a friends that was an '87. And why was the CA version of the '85 K100 less powerful? Legal reasons? _________________ '93 K1100LTSE, ABS1 in Black 'Connie' |

Hi,
The '85 CA version was less powerful because of its camshafts. BMW decided that it was easier to have a 50-state version of the bike, so they stopped putting the hotter cams in the K100 (USA models) with the 1986 model year. I can only assume the '85 CA engine was less powerful for emission reasons. _________________ Ride Safe,
