Hi Quaddog,I'm Keith (blue 95 LT).I want to go riding and it's gonna be very nice weather Sat.
Working on your bike this weekend?Someone says no here,if it ain't broke...
Take it apart and make it work better!
Just a wild question, you ever work on driveshafts?k bike shafts will wear out after time and the stealerships want 720$ or so for a new one.The ujoint caps are 19 mm diam.and they are 44 mm out side cap to cap, very difficult to find. Also, the joints are "staked"in place so no circlips to remove to replace the ujoints and get them centered so shaft don't vibrate! Ever repair one of these? It would be nice to have an alturnative to new.thanks keith.

SO SORRY, I worked until 6 yesterday anyway.... If you need/want to get in touch with me, email me at Andy@stanfordmotorpsorts.com or call the number on my website in my signature. I don't check this forum every day, and I don't want to miss a question like this.. :0)

As far as the driveshafts, no not really, I have not had the need on Japanese bikes, and have done VERY little to BMW of any kind so far.

I am wanting to pull mine completely apart once temps go below freezing and stay there for few weeks, so I will see what is needed and see if I can't come up with some alternative, I know it has been done.

I also plan on making a couple of cool things for K bikes this winter also, stay tuned on that. I have been kicking over an idea to start really pushing BMW bike service and repair, as this area is in dire need. I would probably have to hire a part time old timer BMW wrench to teach me the ins and outs of the old R's and such... I mean, I can hold my own, but Beemers are a breed of their own as we all know!! More as/if it developes!

As far as meeting up and riding.. YES, but I am not sure when. Today would have been good. And usually Mondays are good, but not this week.

Hey there quaddawg,
Good to see your thinking of the k bike and helping the operators with what would be costly repairs/replacements .
I saw on a website someplace,a driveshaft guy welded some buildup on the yoke so a snap ring groove can be machined into the weld and therefore make it have replaceable ujoints.
I did go ride some,appx.175 miles down around Madison In.,up to Versalies and to shelbyville in.then back to Franklin (home). Was a nice day to ride!
Hope you were able to do some riding today. Keith
