| I've looked through the tech stickys and noted that it might be possible to replace fork seals without removing from the bike? Is this right???? Sure would like to save the time involved with removing them from the bike... |

If you place it on the centerstand and either tie the back of the bike down or place a small jack under the front of the engine the front wheel should be off the ground.
Unbolt the calipers and remove the front wheel. Remove the little drain screws at the bottom rear of each fork leg, catching the old oil that could have been all over the floor by now 
Straight up inside each leg there is a hex drive bolt- they are what holds the fork lower to the fork upper. They may be very TIGHT! Some here have used an impact wrench with good results, since it is somewhat easy to strip the hex head using just a breaker bar.
Remove the bolts and you can slide the fork lower straight down and off the upper leg.
CAREFUL that with all this work you don't pull the bike forward! A tiedown strap from the bottom of the centerstand to the front of the engine is a good idea.

That's one method but honestly I don't think it saves any time (tried both) and you may also damage the new seal if you're not very cautious.

I have done two sets of seals (two different K bikes) and haven't had any problems later.
BTW, you might want to install some gaiters on the legs before you bolt it back together. Ranchos are CHEAP.

+1 BTDT. I got about 1 years riding in before they leaked again.
I then removed the forks from the bike to do the seals, like the manual suggest sliding the seal down the length of the fork upper(the shinny chromed part) to seat it in the lower body.
Seals have been fine since.
Also best money spent is for the Rancho Boots. Real cheap too.

The BMW seals often leak, actually often from around (yes!) but if damaged when mounting them they'd leak right after.
oo each his own but in the end I prefer to remove the whole fork.
