|
|
When I sync my throttles, I can feel it's much smoother, starts easier and my mileage increases but after a while (few weeks) it needs to be resynched, one time I tried to lock them with nail polish, next time with thread locker but except making new syncs more difficult, it doesn't lock them enough. I asked OReilly auto parts for specific paint to lock screws (not the threads but just the heads) but they don't have that. Who knows where I can get the right product?
Thanks. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

If you're talking about the screws that adjust the butterflies I locked mine in 1999 with testors enamel paint and I haven't had to touch them since. _________________ Rich

Butterflies and idle screws, yes. I do a sync at least once a year, but that's my second in 3 months and I can already feel it's not as good as it was anymore (after only 2 days of riding). _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Sounds like you might have something else wrong, have you checked for leaks around your inlet manifolds? Sounds like there may be a leak getting progressively worse.
Or can you see that the screws have actually moved by the nail polish being broken? _________________ K1100RS '97

No, I've had that before on other K bikes, it they're not stuck one way or another, they drift, sometime after monthes, sometime after a week.
I know there are specific products for that, just windering where I can buy it. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Number 6, I use an industrial product call Vibratite. It is not the same as Loctite as its not meant to lock fasteners down, just prevent them from being affected by vibration.

I have used the blue, but it is effective only if applied to the threads, which is not what you want (will make difficult next sync), it is not effective if applied to the screw head. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Hockeyshifter or someone mentioned it in a thread a couple years ago.
If you can't get it here, why not order it?
