First off I would like to extend my greetings, adding that I'm new to the Beemer family. Been riding some 30 years, and owned a bunch of different brands. Enough of me, I've read many posts on the breather system and the modifacation of it, however I have a few questions- can I just route a hose from the rear crankcase breather fitting down under the bike with a small breather filter attached? Also I plan to route the line from the balance tube and drain back fitting directly together, cutting out the air cleaner connection. if there are no issues with the rerouting of the rear breather, what would be suggested to cap the opening where it entered the aircleaner housing? Also what can be done to clean out the top section of the aircleaner, 780000+ miles of fuel and oil fume snot?

Well much thanks in advance, blubrik is gone

Welcome to the Forum.

I presume you will have the airbox out of the bike to accomplish this.

An epoxy mix works well to plug holes/openings.

As far as cleaning CRC Brakleen works wonders for cleaning crud and gunk.

Thanks for the prompt reply, and the welcome. Since I have both lower fairings and the fuel tank removed for other maintenance I guess I might as well take the top air collector portion of the air box off. I guess my question about "cleaning" the top section (air collector) portion of the air box was vague, its just that the oil just drips out from the rear crankcase connection and the front right two connections, so I am assuming that the inner assembly of the air collector (what ever that may involve) must be so nasty.
Do you see any issues with my rerouting of the breather line as suggested?
