Decided to take advantage of a perfect riding day on Wednesday to take a day ride I've been wanting to do for a while - the auto road go the summit of Washington. I live in the southern [flatland] part of the state and the base of the auto road is about 2 1/2 or three hours riding. Great weather, great roads, and my machine performing flawlessly.
[SugarHillCTD - I'm pretty sure I buzzed right by Castle Anthrax, did you see me wave?]
The trip up the auto road was very fun riding. 8 miles long, and climbing 4,600 feet. At the summit it was 60 degrees [compared to 90 at the base], with 50 mph constant wind. Nice clear day, so great views, and coooool...
Got back home just after dusk. A great ride!

Steve,
Nice ride. Thanks for the post.
I thought I heard a brick nearby
We have some really great roads around here. 113, Bear Notch, Grafton Notch.
PM me sometime and we could meet. I can link up some nice curvy routes.

John,
That's a great idea. Will definitely take you up on that plan. I think I hit some of those roads you mention, as I came north on 93 through Franconia Notch and then headed east, so I could come back south through the lakes (16) and thereby make a "loop."
Looking at the news yesterday it seems like I made the trip just in time. There snow up there now! I'll likely finish out the riding season down here in the south where it's less wintery.
Thanks, Steve _________________ SL

NO WAY . I'm not giving in yet!!
Seriously- I will ride until there could be a question about traction. These bikes are hot, as you have found out. So with that and electric heated jacket liner & gloves, I am good down to around 40F for a couple hours or more. _________________ John & Cathy
