Sorry if this has been covered, but a search revealed nothing.

Today on a ride my clock's digits disappeared for a few seconds then reappeared showing 0:00 several times. That is, it switched off and started again from midnight.

No other apparent electrical or instrument symptoms.

Any ideas? I'm guessing the contacts for the circuitry in the instrument cluster to the clock only. I'm not familiar with them - are they a plug, or soldered?

Look here:

By the way, that entire site has good K bike repair and mod info.

Good luck.

Could also be a bad connection at fuse #3, or the cluster connector.

FWIW
My 97 has a 3mm hex head screw holding the cable connector to the instrument cluster, where he mentions a small phillips screw.
I just had it apart today to replace the "hey you're low on gas, idiot" bulb

*Corrected hex size

It's 3mm, not 4.
